Job Search
Regardless of whether you are interviewing or negotiating with a Dental Support Organization,
a private practice or other practice model, here are points you’ll want to touch on:
Benefits
Ask about benefits available, such as health insurance, disability coverage, life insurance and retirement plan, and how they're paid.
Technology
Check out their technology. Are they paperless? Is there an intraoral scanner and/or a CAD/CAM? Are there digital radiographs, CBCT machine, intraoral cameras, lasers?
Continuing Education
Do they provide in-house continuing education? Is there reimbursement for outside courses in your areas of interest?
Marketing
Ask about their marketing strategy. Do they have a social media and/or traditional marketing plan? Where do most of their new patients come from? How many new patients come to the practice in a month? How many active patients are in the practice? A healthy practice should have around 1,500 patients per dentist.
Supplies And Services
What dental supplies are currently in the office inventory? Are you able to choose supplies not on the company formulary? What labs are on the preferred list? What services do they provide, and are you able to use an outside lab if a specific service isn't offered?
Scheduling
What days and hours are you expected to be at the office? Will you be allowed break times during the day? Will you have a choice about working nights or weekends?
